Community Outreach

  • Call for proposals: The 3rd Named Data Networking (NDN) Hackathon November 4-5th, Colorado State University, Fort Collins, CO Submission deadline: October 26, 2016 Acceptance notification: October 31, 2016
  • As part of ICN 2016, the NDN Team presented a full-day tutorial on “Exploring NDN Research through Real World Problem Solving” at the 3rd ACM Conference on Information Centric Networking (ICN 2016).
  • Coming up in December 2016, adjacent to IEEE Globecom 2016 at the Workshop on Information Centric Networking Solutions for Real World Applications (ICNSRA 2016) in Washington D.C., the NDN team will present two publications (listed below) as well as participate on a panel discussing “Application of ICN in Infrastructure-Free Environments: Rural Areas, Disaster Recovery, and Military Tactical Environments.
  • Save the date: We have revised our plans to host the next NDNcomm at the University of Memphis March 23-24, 2017 immediately preceding IETF 98 in Chicago. We will hold the 4th NDN Hackathon immediately preceding NDNcomm on 22 March, 2017. Lan Wang and Christos Papadopolous will serve as co-chairs.

Community Outreach

  •  We are pleased to announce that NIST will host a two-day workshop on Named Data Networking on their campus in Gaithersburg, MD on May 31-June 1, 2016. Day 1 theme will focus on the Internet of Things, Day 2 theme will cover Big Data and Big Media. Community Outreach

  • On 20-23 March 2016 we held the 2nd NDN Hackathon and Project Retreat. We welcomed over 30 participants for the Hackathon and over 50 for the Retreat to the University of California at San Diego campus in La Jolla, CA. The retreat focused on science applications, technical discussions with a focus on NFD development, autoconfiguration IoT over NDN, and architectural principles and future collaboration and funding opportunities.   • Mark your calendars for 20-23 March 2016 when we plan to hold the next NDN Hackathon (open to the public) and Project Retreat (open to NDN Consortium members). We will host the retreat on the University of California at San Diego campus in La Jolla, CA.   • NDNComm2015: This month we hosted over 100 people from 63 institutions and 13 countries at the NDN Community Meeting (NDNComm 2015) held at the University of California at Los Angeles campus in the Little Theater, Macgowan Hall, UCLA on 28-29 September 2015. They participated in presentations, breakout discussions, posters and panels. To view the presentations, view the archived live streams linked below. This weekend will be first NDN hackathon scheduled prior to the upcoming NDNcomm 2015. Details can be found on the NDN Hackathon Participants Guide.

NDNcomm 2015: 28-29 September 2015

The NDN Community Meeting (NDNcomm 2015) will be held Monday and Tuesday, September 28-29, hosted by the University of California Los Angeles. This two-day meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to exchange research experience and results, to discuss the current state and future directions of the NDN architecture, and to identify remaining issues.

NDNcomm 2015 will be held in the Little Theater, Macgowan Hall, UCLA. The main NDNcomm event will be livestreamed on Day 1 (Monday) and Day 2 (Tuesday). Slides submitted from speakers will eventually be posted to the NDNcomm 2015 agenda, and additional information will be posted to the NDNcomm 2015 site.

Those interested are still invited to register for NDNcomm 2015, but we will likely be unable to support further requests to present.
  • Hackathon: 26-27 September 2015. We are excited to announce the first NDN hackathon scheduled prior to the upcoming NDNcomm 2015. The organizers welcome participants across all experience levels and are reaching out to the community for project suggestions. If you have an idea for a project, please see the Call for Projects and email Steve DiBenedetto (dibenede@cs.colostate.edu).

This two-day meeting will provide an opportunity for the community to exchange research experience and results, to discuss the current state and future directions of the NDN architecture, and to identify remaining issues.

NDNcomm 2015 will be held in the Little Theater, Macgowan Hall, UCLA. All interested are invited to register for NDNcomm 2015 as soon as possible.

We encourage you to contact the Consular Section of the Embassy or Consulate near your location to determine how to apply, and the likely time required for the process of visa issuance. NDNcomm 2015 has no influence over the issuance of a visa.
