The NDN team has released the following statements on its approach to intellectual property, copyright, patents, and licensing:
- August, 2016 – The Named Data Networking (NDN) Team’s Perspective on IPR and Licensing of NDN and Related ICN Technologies – A discussion of the history of IPR and licensing in NDN, as well as the relationship to CCN, in response to community questions and in relation to the “harmonization” activity in ICNRG.
- August, 2015 – FIA-NP: Collaborative Research: Named Data Networking Next Phase (NDN-NP) – This document clarifies the NDN team’s licensing approach, including the use of GPL and LGPL.
- September, 2013 – FIA-NP: Collaborative Research: Named Data Networking Next Phase (NDN-NP) – The NDN team’s statement of their intellectual property approach to copyright and patents as submitted to NSF.
