This paper highlights the architectural opportunities of enabling edge computing over Named Data Networking (NDN). We use a simple Augmented Reality (AR) use-case to illustrate NDN’s architectural advantages in edge computing support, and to discuss specific solutions for efficient resource discovery, compute re-use, mobility management, and security. We also elaborate different design options and tradeoffs in addressing these questions.
