Dalu Zhang received the B.Sc. in computer science from Shandong University, China, in 1982. He is a professor in the Department of Computer Science and Technology, Tongji University, China. His current research interests include network measurement, QoE and future Internet. He was PI of two NSFC projects and is applying for a new project Adaptive Mechanism and Strategy Research for Full Virtual Machine Live Migration over Future Internet this year. He has published more than 90 papers. He has 27 National Invention Patents with 15 certifications. Besides, 4 patents related to future internet are now under review. He is a member of the IEEE and ACM. He was the reviewer of IEEE Transactions on Parallel and Distributed System, Transactions on Vehicular Technology, Mathematical Problems in Engineering, and Peer to Peer Networking and Applications. He was program committee vice chair and session chair of some IEEE conferences.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
So far, we have finished virtual machine migration in LAN and WAN based on NDN network. We find that live VM migration is not supported intrinsically in WAN, just as what happens in WAN of TCP/IP network. So we introduced a preliminary self-adaptive mechanism to keep seamless applications in NDN network. This can function well in the experiments conducted in our lab and we want to verify it in a wider area network. After that, we will work to complete the self-adaptive mechanism.
NDN Plans:
As mentioned above, we want to migrate a virtual machine from a host in our site to the other sites and then back to the starting host. We are glad to invite other institutions to join our project, studying NDN network architecture together. The results of VM migration in NDN network are mentioned in two academic papers that are under review by IEEE conferences IWQoS and ICCCN. We will provide you the links and the details of our work once they are published.
